SCF Surgut rescues 12 yachtsmen in stormy weather in the South Carribean Sea.
On 8 March 2019, Sovcomflot tanker SCF Surgut received a distress call from the Covenas Harbour Master regarding the yacht Pajarita, when proceeding in the South Caribbean Sea.
The reported yacht was calling for rescue of passengers and the crew in a stormy weather, with waves up to 3 meters height and north wind force 6 BF.
Master of the Russian tanker Yury Romanov and his crew immediately responded to the assistance request, approached the yacht and commenced the rescue operation placing 12 people on board, providing them with hot meals and accommodation. All safely rescued passengers, citizens of Argentina, Australia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, were further boarded to Colombian Coast Guard vessel. The SCF Surgut resumed her voyage to the port of destination.
The management of SCF Group and the technical manager of the ship congratulated the Master and crew upon the successful completion of rescue operation. The tanker crew has сompleted its professional duty, has demonstrated best safety practice and experience during rescue operations of people in stormy weather conditions.
